Well, Gabe’s Winning Ways Software! instead searches out overlays, i.e., runners who are underestimated via morning line odds. 

So let’s say, as in the example below, while the horse is 7/2, Winning Ways estimated this horse as a 2/1 shot, so $9.20 was a bonus.

Or the next example with a nice $10.20 payoff (the WW Algorithm made the horse 9/5) + a nice Exacta.

Backing up to place and show is wise as the top pick, when it is the only pick, will run at least 3rd close to 81% of the time.  Here the #3 horse just missed at 8/1 and the $7.20 place price was great!

Another high odds place horse at 5/1.  Winning Ways horses are very, very often part of the Exacta and/or Trifecta.

Ahh — at times three horses will show up in the bottom boxes and that calls for an Exacta box. Here the top pick, #6, won at $8.00 and the 6-7 Exacta came back at $38.  When an Exacta situation presents itself, you will hit @42% of them when boxing three horses.

In other words the program first evaluates the race as a whole and creates its own value line. 

The Advanced Overlay Equation then seeks out runners that if deems should be lower, usually much lower, odds than the assigned morning line. 

The formula works at all tracks, although because they often have a non-professional odds line maker at the smaller tracks, you will get more plays on those ovals.

The remarkable thing is that the winning % of @34% and average win mutuel of near $9 holds true at both big, medium and small tracks.
