High Percentage Methodology for Favorites

While Les’ Primary Purpose was to look for value plays, i.e., ‘Overlays’, he also recognized that Favorites won a third or more of all races.

👉👉’It would simply be foolish to ignore this fact,’ Les says, ‘but to make any type of positive return on playing favorites you either have to have a very high percentage of winners or above average prices on the public choices.  I found that favorites meeting a certain criteria would win at a 44%+ rate.  Now, this is very valuable information when you are using a favorite as a key horse in the Daily Double, etc., and can also be turned into profitable play by using a bankroll management plan with these select favorites. Also, I can often, 70% of the time, tell when a racecard is likely to be chalky, which enhances the chances of actually turning a profit on favorites.’
